Time for a coaching change? Typically don't think things should be pinned on the coach, however, I think that this team isn't responding to him anymore. I'd like to see Darryl Sutter or Dave Tippet come in, both have proven that they can rally a team for a period of time. They both have expiries but I fear we are going to waste a season with a good amount of talent on this team. The Flames have laid absolute eggs 6 out of their last 8 games. I hope I'm wrong and they figure it out but with Edmonton starting to turn things around it isn't our of the question that we could be on the outside looking in before the new year.

Again, it's clear that Todd doesn't actually watch the games. There are maybe three goalies in the league that could be successful playing behind the Flames defence. 3rd year in a row where the Flames consistently turn the puck over in their own end and leave players wide open in front of their net, but hey, let's blame the goalie.

If the Flames goalie can play at a Vezina level, they'll win a lot of games, if he can't, they're going to start needing to score 6+ every game. This is why Calgary is the current goalie graveyard. There hasn't been more than a game or two where I haven't been happy with how he played. How is that struggling?

The Flames also bought out their best penalty killer from last year. Say what you want about Bouma, but he usually didn't leave guys wide open.

So you're saying it's not the coach as many of these issues pre date the coach. Is it the players or does it go deeper into the organization ? I remember Brent Sutter complaining about the last bunch and the culture being a country club.

The worst thing that I saw was the sloppy slow and sometimes lost defensive decisions in the Flames zone. Now most of them look scared to make a play from their own end.

My opinion, switch up the defensive pairings. Something to change things up.

No.

Elliott deserved a lot of blame for being (frank)ing awful. Not all, but a lot. Smith has stolen more points already for us than sh!tty Elliott did all season.

Our defense is bad right now. Oh well.

Time to mix up the D pairings, I think. Brodie has looked awful all season. Either that or promote Kulak-Stone to 2nd pairing to hopefullynlet Hamonic and Brodie figure it out. Personally, I'd try something like:

Giordano-Hamilton
Brodie-Stone
Kulak-Hamonic

Stone's been our 2nd best defenseman all season and already has chemistry with Brodie. Stone could really settle the 2nd pairing down. Could even swap that pairing with Kulak-Hamonic depending on who we think the better pairing is.

Russell for Brodie imminent. Second pair guy for second pair guy. You even save some cap space...

Even Steven.

Wasn't their PK/PP terrible at this point last year? Same with goaltending? Seems to be a case of taking way too long to find their rhythm (ie. post New Year) before they figure it out... Don't know if that's a coaching problem or personnel problem but it's tiring to watch this seem under-perform due to inconsistency.

Last year we had decent offence and defence, no goaltending
Start of this year had decent goaltending and defence, no offence
Currently have decent goaltending and offence, no defence

Let's go flames sort it out before we slip back to .500 (or worse)

PS: good for Benny, knew he had it in him

Not sure how serious a post this is, but who's the drunk if you think the Flames D group is anywhere close to top 5?

His post was also nothing more than a poor trolling attempt.

Really can't speculate about what's going on behind the scenes.

All I know is that when you've got more or less the same team with the same major issues with two vastly different coaches, it's not a problem a new coach will fix.

Honestly they could have an excellent D core!!! Gg just needs to figure out the combinations change it up see what happens. Can't hurt anything. My god it's like giving Brouwer unlimited pp time why???? Change the pairings up and see what happens. If the players don't like it well to fukin bad!! Enough with this loyalty sht

Just trying to be nice... Flames have nice D pieces but TJ looks completely lost this yr.. I don't know what happened he just fell off... combos are off somehow... confidence looks shot ... time to get it figured out though ...
